Music legend launches hospital’s healthy living pop-up

02 April 2019
Fresh fruit and veg are now ripe for the picking at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup after the launch of a new Five-a-Day Healthy Living stand.

The stall is one of the first of its kind and was unveiled by Dave Peacock, of legendary music duo, Chas and Dave. It will be in the lobby of the hospital next on Monday 8 April 2019 and every other Monday after that.

It is operated by a family-run business fronted by greengrocers David Chamberlain and Stuart Mead and is fully supported by the NHS community.

David said: “We were asked a few times what the project was all about, and the answer is pretty simple - it makes perfect sense to create this Healthy Living Stand and pioneer it in hospitals. Bad eating habits and obesity play a huge part in the strain on the NHS.“

Officially launching the stall, celebrity Dave said: “Fabulous fruit stall, I wish you all the luck in the world.”

Matthew Trainer, Chief Executive of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We all need to eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg and cut down on processed sugar. This stall will help our patients and staff choose healthier options while they are at Queen Mary’s."
